Pyongyang, October 5 (KCNA) -- Nigeria celebrated the 51st independence day on October 1.

A military parade was held in its capital.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan joined dignitaries in watching the parade.

In a speech on the independence day, he expressed the stand of the government to make positive efforts to ensure social stability. He called upon all the inhabitants to turn out in the drive to achieve the country's peace and stability.
