Pyongyang, October 5 (KCNA) -- The South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration held a press conference outside the "government" building in Seoul Tuesday to slam the south Korean authorities for blocking the joint national event to mark the 4th anniversary of the October 4 declaration.

At the conference speakers referred to the fact that the North, South and Overseas side committees for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration agreed to hold a festival for peaceful reunification on the said occasion and had made strenuous efforts to make it a success.

However, the Ministry of Unification disallowed the Kaesong working contact with the north for the opening of this event on Sept. 20.

It also turned down the application made by the organization to take part in the event, making it impossible to hold the event, they charged.

This indicates that any cooperation and exchange between the south and the north are impossible under the present regime, they said, stressing the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration is the only way for achieving peace.

They called on all Koreans in the south and the north and overseas to unite and bring down the "government" which pursues confrontation and wage a more dynamic struggle for independent reunification, peace and prosperity.
