Pyongyang, October 7 (KCNA) -- Aung Thein Lynn, member of the Central Executive Committee of the Union Solidarity and Development Party, the Union of Myanmar, released a statement on October 2 on the 66th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

President Kim Il Sung founded the WPK on October 10, 1945, Aung Thein Lynn said, and went on:

Under the wise leadership of the WPK the DPRK eradicated feudal backwardness in a short span of time, turned into a socialist state and demonstrated the might of the country before the world through the grand Chollima advance.

The cause of socialist construction is being successfully realized by Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the WPK.

He made sure that a new turn was effected in all fields of the revolution and construction including politics, military affairs, economy and culture in the 1960s. He ushered in a great heyday of the WPK in the 1970s and 1980s.

The WPK brought about a landmark phase in carrying out the cause of national reunification. It also expanded foreign relations in all fields and strengthened the international solidarity for the Korean revolution by pursuing an independent foreign policy.

A great leap forward unprecedented in history is being effected in each socialist construction site in the era of Songun thanks to the tested leadership of Kim Jong Il.

We are firmly convinced that the history of the WPK will shine more brilliantly as the history of single-minded unity of the party, the army and the people and an ever-victorious history as Kim Jong Il is leading the party and the revolution.
