Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- An American peace activist and a professor of Massachuset Engineering College contributed an article about the construction of a U.S. naval base on Jeju Island of south Korea to the south Korean newspaper Hangyore.

In the article they said the naval base would be used for putting into practice the U.S. missile defense system and as advance base for hurling forces into surrounding countries.

They see no need to build such a base, they said.

Noting that the struggle of the Jeju islanders against the base construction is aimed to prevent a war, they voiced support for it.

It is important to explore a way of helping the islanders, they stressed.
