Pyongyang, October 11 (KCNA) -- Genaro Ledesma Izquieta, chairman of the People's Front of Workers, Peasants and Students of Peru, made public a statement on Sept. 28 on the first anniversary of the Conference of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The conference was a very important political event not only for socialist Korea but for the countries that wish to build socialism by getting rid of the capitalist system now in the grip of a serious crisis, the statement said.

It noted that general secretary Kim Jong Il was reelected general secretary of the WPK at its conference.

Referring to the great achievements made by the army and people of the DPRK in socialist construction true to the spirit of the conference, the statement said:

A dynamic drive is now underway in the DPRK to bring about a decisive turn in building an economic power and improving the standard of people's living in the run-up to the centenary of birth of President Kim Il Sung.

The Korean people are building Pyongyang City as a world-class city demonstrating the wisdom and talents of the nation.

A large-scale fruit farm and modern fruit processing factory sprang up in the suburbs of Pyongyang.

Dams and big waterway tunnel were completed in the construction site of the Huichon Power Station.

Juche iron is being turned out at the Songjin Steel Complex in an endless stream and a heavy rail production process is operating in full gear at the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex.

New factories and fish-breeding grounds directly linked with the people's life including the Nampho Glass Factory and the Pyongyang Flour-Processing Factory made their appearance in various parts of the country and the existing ones were technologically updated.
