Pyongyang, October 11 (KCNA) -- DPRK doctorate of history was conferred on Kim Hong Gyu, advisor to the Osaka branch of the Korean Social Scientists Association in Japan, with due ceremony at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Tuesday.

Kim made contribution to comprehending in a systematic way the history of the Korean people's patriotic struggle through an overall study of the life and activities of Sa Myong Dang (Yujong in pen name), a righteous monk who had been active in the period before and after the Imjin Patriotic War.
