Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- The Switzerland-Korea Committee and the Swiss Group for the Study of the Juche Idea released a joint statement on October 3 on the 31st anniversary of the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo (DFRK) and the 4th anniversary of the October 4 declaration.

The statement made a detailed account of the fact that President Kim Il Sung advanced the proposal for founding the DFRK at the 6th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea in October 1980.

The proposal is the most fair and aboveboard and realistic proposal to reunify Korea independently and peacefully, it said.

In order to realize this reunification proposal the U.S. troops should be withdrawn from south Korea and the south Korean authorities should recognize the principles of independence, neutrality and non-alignment, it noted, and went on:

The adoption of the declaration for the development of relations between the north and the south, peace and prosperity is a noteworthy event in the history of the Korean people's struggle for reunifying the country.

The declaration is based on the June 15 joint declaration.

The October 4 declaration calls for achieving the reunification of the country by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation.

We positively support the proposal for founding the DFRK and the October 4 declaration.
