Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- A meeting to mark the 20th anniversary of the publication of leader Kim Jong Il's work "Theory on Fine Art" took place at the Mansudae Art Studio here on Saturday.

The work, published on October 16, Juche 80 (1991), comprehensively deals with ideas and theories and ways on the Juche-based fine art including the Juche-based aesthetic view, essential character and mission of fine art, its varieties and forms and the issue of raising political and professional qualifications of artists.

Present there were An Tong Chun, minister of Culture, Kim Pyong Hun, chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of the Unions of Art and Literature of Korea, Ju Su Yong, manager of the Mansudae Art Studio, and others.

Kim Song Min, chairman of the Central Committee of the Artists Union of Korea, said in his report that the Juche-based fine art of the DPRK has covered a shining path of development over the last two decades under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.

The Korean painters have created revolutionary art works such as large scale Korean painting "1994, the Year of Bitter Grief ", Korean painting "Long Journeys of Bloody Battles against the Japanese Imperialists" and "25 000-ri Long Trip that Steered the Century."

The last two decades witnessed the production of a lot of art works making a profound philosophical portrayal of the great personality of Kim Jong Il as a great man, in particular.

Among the successful works are Korean paintings "Phoenixes of 90s" and "8 Brave Soldiers of Phohang", sculpture "I See Victory of Revolution" and others.

Large scale relievos and varieties of sculptures for architectural decoration were successfully created for buildings such as the newly built National Theatrical Theatre and Specialist Restaurant under Okryu Restaurant.

A style of stage art called music and sand drawing was created recently to please Korean audience.

The reporter noted that all these successes are the brilliant fruition of the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il who brightly indicated the way to be followed by Juche-based fine art and led it at its every phase with warm loving care.

He called on all officials and creators to create more art works clear in their ideological and political stands and peculiar in formative arts true to the literary and art policy of the Workers' Party of Korea.
