Pyongyang, October 18 (KCNA) -- The South Kyongsang Provincial Headquarters for Checking Improvement Project of Four Large Rivers and Protecting River Rakdong in south Korea called a press conference on Oct. 14 to make public a letter of protest to the UN secretary general.

The letter noted that the south Korean "government" put up literature on the improvement project of four large rivers at the hall of the 10th Conference on the UN Convention to Combat Desertification on Oct. 10.

The project is not for prevention of desertification but it is the worst deed of destroying environment, it said, demanding an immediate halt to it.
