Pyongyang, October 18 (KCNA) -- Some economic cooperation programs which have been under way between Russia and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are what build a bridge of trust in northeast Asia, Voice of Russia said.

Referring to the significance of cooperation in railway transport, the radio said:

Russia and the DPRK plan to build a railway transport route linking the Pacific with the Atlantic. A trial train service which runs from Russia's Khasan Railway Station to the DPRK's Rajin Port in the Rason Special Economic Zone took place some days ago.

The joint program of the two countries includes updating a 54 km-long railroad and building a container wharf in Rajin Port.

Its prospect is very good. The program is a large-scale and promising undertaking.

If any countries in the Asia-Pacific region render financial assistance to the program, not in words, they will benefit from it. Cargoes are likely to be transported by railway between Asia and Europe, instead of sea route.

And if a progress is made in the gas pipeline project along with the railway transport, it will give a good effect on the six-party talks.
