Pyongyang, October 18 (KCNA) -- A briefing on Red Cross activities took place at Yanggakdo International Hotel on Tuesday to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the DPRK Red Cross Society.

Present there on invitation were delegations of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross active in the DPRK, diplomatic envoys of different countries and representatives of international organizations and staff members of foreign embassies here.

Paek Yong Ho, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the DPRK Red Cross Society, Jo Yong Nam, vice-chairman of the State Planning Commission, and officials of the Society's Central Committee, ministries and national institutions were on hand.

Congratulatory speeches were made by heads of the delegation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross after a speech by Jo Yong Nam.

After an introduction of activities of the DPRK Red Cross Society the participants enjoyed an art performance of young Red Cross members.
