Pyongyang, October 19 (KCNA) -- Handwashing activities were conducted in Yonsan County, North Hwanghae Province, the DPRK on Tuesday to mark Global Handwashing Day 2011 (October 15.)

Officials of the Education Commission, the Grand People's Study House and other institutions concerned, and staff members of the UNICEF Pyongyang Office joined in the event.

Introduced in the event were the rules to be observed for personal hygiene and correct methods of washing hands with soap. Then handwashing activities were conducted by schoolchildren.

Kamrul Islam, a member of the UNICEF Pyongyang Office, told KCNA that he appreciated the DPRK government for encouraging the schoolchildren's handwashing.
