Beijing, October 18 (KCNA) -- China's Foreign Ministry spokesman voiced the country's willingness to solve the south sea issue through negotiations.

Speaking at a press conference on Oct. 17, Liu Weimin referred to the fact that the Japanese foreign minister suggested solving the south sea dispute in a multilateral framework during his recent trips to three Southeast Asian nations. Such way of discussion is not helpful to a solution but makes the issue more complicated, the spokesman said.

Liu stressed that the willingness of China and Vietnam to solve the sea dispute through negotiations has nothing to do with a third country.

Other nations should respect the two countries' effort for solving the dispute through bilateral negotiations, Liu added.
