Pyongyang, October 20 (KCNA) -- Shortly ago, the south Korean puppet warmongers staged frantic provocative firing exercises against the DPRK in the West Sea of Korea around five islands including Paekryong and Yonphyong.

They kicked up a row prior to the firing exercises, forcing islanders to take shelter and controlling departure of fishing boats.

Rodong Sinmun Thursday says in a by-lined commentary in this regard:

This reckless act of chilling the atmosphere of dialogue and deteriorating the situation is a clear revelation of the invariable hostility of the south Korean warmongers toward the DPRK.

What is essential for the north and the south at the moment is detente and peace.

The DPRK has made positive efforts to straighten out serious situation of the Korean Peninsula and improve the inter-Korean relations at any cost.

Nevertheless, the puppet warmongers staged dangerous saber-rattling again in the West Sea of Korea to spoil the atmosphere of dialogue with war exercises and deliberately strain the situation.

What should not be overlooked is that the naval firing exercises are timed to coincide with serious military developments on five islands in the West Sea of Korea.

The prevailing situation proves that the south Korean authorities are keen on straining the situation and doing harm to the DPRK by force of arms at any cost, displeased with dialogue and peace.

The nature of the south Korean conservative group as wrecker of peace and war maniac has been brought to light.

We want peace but never pardon those who purposefully do harm to the DPRK.

The south Korean authorities would be well advised to clearly face up to the severity of the incident and behave with discretion.
