Pyongyang, October 20 (KCNA) -- The Council to Cope with the Emergency Situation Opposed to the Hasty Ratification of the south Korea-U.S. FTA and the Headquarters of the All-People Movement for Checking the Conclusion of the south Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement held a press conference in the "National Assembly" building on October 18 denouncing the "Grand National Party" for working hard for earlier conclusion of the "Free Trade Agreement" with the U.S.

At the press conference, the speakers said that discussion on the poisonous articles of the FTA with the U.S. was obstructed by the GNP on October 17.

This cannot be interpreted otherwise than desperate efforts of those who are afraid of the contents and essence of the agreement being conveyed to the people.

The chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Trade and Unification Committee of the NA who is also the GNP member said that they were pressed for time as U.S. Congress already passed the bill on FTA implementation. And he abused his official power to put a motion calling for ratification up for discussion at the committee.

The speakers condemned the GNP for seeking to subordinate the south Korean economy to the U.S.
