Pyongyang, October 22 (KCNA) -- Russian and Nigerian newspapers carried special write-ups on the 85th anniversary of the formation of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU).

The 38th issue of the Russian paper Patriot carried an article titled "Pioneer of Revolution" illustrated with a photo of President Kim Il Sung and a picture of the President standing together with General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

Recalling that the President formed the DIU with young vanguard fighters of Korea 85 years ago, the article went on:

The Korean revolution which originated from the DIU has vigorously advanced along the road of independence, Songun and unity.

The revolutionary cause of Kim Il Sung has been successfully carried forward by Kim Jong Il.

The DIU considered unity as its life and soul and made a new history of unity and cohesion centered on the leader.

Socialist Korea dignified with its independence, powerful with its Songun and invincible with its single-minded unity will always enjoy victory and glory.

The Nigerian newspaper Nigerian Observer on Oct. 12 said in an article titled "85th Anniversary of DIU Formation" that Songun is the invariable banner of the Korean revolution as it thoroughly embodied the idea of anti-imperialist struggle.

The Songun politics pursued by Kim Jong Il provided the DPRK with a sure guarantee for weathering all difficulties and winning victories generation after generation, the paper added.
