Pyongyang, October 22 (KCNA) -- The Information Department of the Central Committee of the Anti-imperialist National Democratic Front made public a declaration on the situation on Oct. 18 in denunciation of the racket of fascist suppression kicked up by the south Korean conservative authorities, according to internet site "Kuguk Jonson."

The declaration said:

A lot of pro-reunification patriotic personages and democratic forces are indiscriminately suppressed on charges of being "spies", "Reds" and "left-wing elements" and even those calling for the right to existence and the right to learn are arrested on groundless charges. This is the tragic reality of south Korea swept by the whirlwind of fascism.

Such whirlwind of brutal suppression kicked off by the conservative ruling authorities, the one reminiscent of the horrifying period of the Yusin dictatorship, is part of the despicable plots to tide over the serious ruling crisis caused by their treacherous, anti-reunification and unpopular policies and, furthermore, lay a springboard for their stay in power through the "National Assembly" election and the "presidential" election next year.

The present conservative regime sold off not only political and military interests but even economic sovereignty to the U.S. through servile and tributary diplomacy, the kind of which can hardly be found in the history of international politics. It is staging almost every day exercises for a war of aggression against compatriots in the north in collusion with outside forces, rendering the situation extremely tense and bringing the inter-Korean relations to the worst phase.

Noting that it is the south Korean people who are responsible for paving the way for achieving independence and reunification, democracy and people's welfare, the declaration called upon all the people to get united as one and turn out in the struggle to shatter the conservative ruling forces' suppression of the forces for progressive reforms.

It also urged the people of various strata to launch a dynamic mass movement to fully probe the truth behind various conspiratorial cases cooked up by the ruling conservative forces, punish the chief culprits of fabrications and seek the release of the arrested and detained pro-reunification patriotic figures.
