Pyongyang, October 24 (KCNA) -- The General Council of the Christian Presbyterian Church in south Korea sent all lawmakers a letter on Oct. 20 clarifying the stand of opposing the naval base construction on Jeju Island.

The organization in its letter quoted experts as saying that the naval base would serve as a lever to pressurize the countries around south Korea.

The Jeju Island would turn into the most dangerous area of military conflict in Northeast Asia, it noted, calling upon all lawmakers to make a responsible decision on peace on the Korean Peninsula, properly understanding the gravity of the construction.
