Beijing, October 23 (KCNA) -- A vice-premier of the State Council of China expressed the Chinese government's willingness to make sustained efforts to improve the people's living standard.

Addressing the opening ceremony of a forum held in Beijing recently, Hui Liangyu stressed that to improve the people's living standard is a steadfast goal of the government.

The state will provide the people suffering from poverty with compulsory education, basic medical service and dwelling houses by 2020, Hui added.
