Moscow, October 24 (KCNA) -- The Kuriles are a territory of Russia and it is natural for its leaders to visit them, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview with major broadcasting services of Russia on Oct. 21.

The appearance of surface-to-air missile systems, tanks and helicopters in the Kuriles is a process being made in the whole territory of Russia where its garrisons are stationed under the army modernization plan, he added.

The Russian government holds that dialogue with Japan over the conclusion of peace treaty should be made on the basis of admitting the results of the Second World War without unilateral analysis of history and not politicizing the territorial issue, he stated.
