Opera "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai" Staged in Changchun

Beijing, October 26 (KCNA) -- Artistes of the Phibada Opera Troupe of the DPRK staged the opera "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai" before full house in Changchun City, Jilin Province of China on Tuesday, the first leg of their performance tour of it. Among the audience were Sun Zhengcai, secretary of the Jilin Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, Wang Rulin, governor of Jilin Province, officials in the field of culture and many other people. At the end of the performance the audience vied with each other to congratulate the performers and give their impressions. The secretary expressed belief that the performance would make a great contribution to the development of culture in the province. The governor said that the artistes of the DPRK produced the opera with all sincerity, adding he was impressed to see the perfect combination of orchestral music, songs and pangchang (off-stage song), etc. The director of the Department for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries of the Ministry of Culture noted that the performance is of great significance as it raised the curtain on the 61st anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteers' entry into the Korean front. It was thanks to the meticulous guidance of General Secretary Kim Jong Il that the opera was successfully produced, he stressed. The manager of the Performance Co. Ltd. of the province said he did not imagine the performance mesmerized the audience so completely. Many performances have been given at this theatre so far but there has been no such uninterrupted enthusiastic applause as today, he added. Xinhua news of China aired that the artistes of the DPRK excited the audience with delicate representation, beautiful words of songs and refined dancing, saying that not a few people watched the last scene of the opera with tears in their eyes. Their performance will go on in various other cities. |
