Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Saturday dedicates a bylined article to the 20th anniversary of the publication of the famous work of General Secretary Kim Jong Il "Let Us Bring About a New Turn in Developing Science and Technology".

The work, published on Oct. 28, Juche 80 (1991), refers to the importance and significance of developing science and technology in defending and glorifying Korean-style socialism. It also clearly indicates the tasks for successfully attaining the goal of developing science and technology.

The two decades since the publication of the work were shining period during which a fresh turn has been effected in developing science and technology of the country under the wise guidance of the Workers' Party of Korea, the article says, and goes on:

Modern industrial establishments that have been put on the Juche-oriented CNC basis mushroomed in different parts of the country and a bright prospect for the use of solar heat energy and geothermal water opened. This is a precious fruition of the party's line on attaching importance to science and technology.

Fundamental in scientific research is to develop science and technology, embody collectivism and combine scientific research and production in an organic way as required by the party and the revolution from the Juche-based stand. Only then would it be possible to make scientific and technical achievements truly conducive to socialist construction.

The miracle wrought by the people in Hungnam clearly shows that scientists and technicians can open the wide avenue of a rich and powerful country only when they arm themselves with the Juche idea of the Workers' Party of Korea and fully display the scientific creativity under the banner of self-reliance.
