Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Democracy, People's Life, Peaceful Reunification and Sovereignty of south Korea made public a statement on Thursday, condemning the authorities for retaliatory suppression of the progressive forces.

On Oct. 27 the North Kyongsang provincial police agency searched the houses of the secretary general of the Taegu and North Kyongsang Provincial Solidarity for Democracy, People's Life, Peaceful Reunification and Sovereignty and the executive chairperson of the Taegu and North Kyongsang Provincial Federation of University Student Councils, the statement noted.

Such suppression of members of the progressive organizations is a mean action in retaliation for the defeat in the Seoul mayoral election, it charged.

The recent election's results were just the people's punishment of the present "government" and the "Grand National Party", the statement said.

It scathingly accused the authorities of seeking to recover the consequences of their arrogant and arbitrary practices with fascist suppression.
