Pyongyang, November 1 (KCNA) -- In the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, a birthplace of Taekwon-Do, there is the Taekwon-Do Hall, a centre of the Korean nation's martial art. The hall was built in a peculiar way national in form and socialist in content in Chongchun Street in Pyongyang. President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il took a measure to build the hall in order to further develop the national martial art. Inaugurated in September Juche 81 (1992), the hall has a floor space of more than 70,000 square meters. It has a main building and accessory buildings. Kim Jong Il's calligraphic letters "Taekwon-Do Hall" are seen on the front wall of the main building. The hall houses a 2,400-seat gymnasium, training rooms, swimming pool, bathhouses and other welfare service facilities. Many international and domestic tournaments, including the World Taekwon-Do Championship, have been held at the hall. |
