S. Korean Military's Illegal Surveillance Accused

Pyongyang, November 3 (KCNA) -- The deputy spokesman for the Democratic Labor Party of south Korea issued a commentary on Nov. 1 to denounce the puppet military authorities for their illegal surveillance of civilians.

The Ministry of Defense on Oct. 31 announced the investigation results that the Defense Security Command's illegal surveillance of a professor at Chosun University was done by individuals, not on the order of the military, the commentary noted, adding:

It was revealed that the high-ranking officials of the military held an emergency measure meeting to destroy evidence related to this illegal surveillance. This fact goes to clearly prove how deceptive the investigation results are.

We cannot remain an onlooker to the fact that the military's surveillance of civilians, which could be seen in the past period of the military dictatorship, has revived under the rule of the present authorities.

This case should not be left to the mercy of the military only, the commentary said, stressing the need to mobilize all means to make a thorough-going investigation into it.
