Pyongyang, November 3 (KCNA) -- Ssirum (Korean wrestling) is one of the Korean people's traditional sports events.

There are many celebrated Korean wrestlers in the country.

Among them is Ri Jo Won, a 32-year-old student of Sinuiju University of Light Industry in North Phyongan Province.

He is 1.86 meters tall and 102 kg heavy.

Ri got married and has a son.

He finished first and second three times respectively at the National Ssirum Tournament for Grand Bull Prize.

He, born in Paekam County, Ryanggang Province, graduated from Paekam College of Agriculture and joined the April 25 Sports Team to learn ssirum.

After leaving the sports team, he began working with the North Phyongan Provincial Supply Centre of Goods for Fishermen and took the title in a provincial ssirum tournament.

His diverse techniques, including a waist tackle, are admired by experts and spectators.

The government gave him a new dwelling house for his brilliant results.
