Pyongyang, November 5 (KCNA) -- Hong Un Jong, 22, took the title in women's long horse event at the national championships, which ended in October. She, honored with the title of People's Sportswoman, belongs to the Pyongyang Sports Team.

With good kinaesthesia, she began learning gymnastics at age of seven at a juvenile sports school in Songchongang District, Hamhung City.

She distinguished herself already in her teens at the national games of juvenile sports schools and won gold medals at national championships and other domestic tournaments to become the country's top vault ace.

She won the first gold medal at the 3rd Asian Gymnastics Championship, which was the first international tournament for her, and the second at the Gymnastics World Cup held in Slovenia.

At the 29th Olympic Games, she flawlessly performed vaulting movements to finish first with 15.650 points.

She also proved successful at the 25th Universiad and the Gymnastics World Cup in Moscow, enjoying a great popularity as a world star.
