Moscow, November 13 (KCNA) -- Russian President Dmitri Medvedev stated that Kuril Islands belong to Russia.

The islands are Russia's border and therefore, military units should stay there, he said.

Increasing defence and security on the islands is not aimed to oppose Japan or other third country, he said, adding this should not be accepted as an act for military purposes.
