Actions against FTA Staged in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- Large-scale actions were staged in south Korea on Nov. 13 to check the conclusion of the humiliating "Free Trade Agreement" with the U.S.

More than 20,000 workers affiliated to the Confederation of Trade Unions held a rally in plaza of the Seoul City Office.

They deplored that workers are now suffering bitterer misery and people's vital rights are being wantonly violated while the big businesses get the greatest benefit ever in history.

To make matters worse, the authorities seek to conclude the FTA with the U.S., reducing the people's life into a tighter corner, they said.

All-out fight with the "government" is inevitable if it persists in the FTA conclusion, they said, warning: The workers, in solidarity with all forces sharing the same intention, will rise up in the struggle to get the "Grand National Party" disbanded and force the "government" to step down in case the FTA destroying the future of the population is railroaded.

Read out at the rally was a resolution on concentrating all efforts on the struggle against the FTA conclusion.

Then, an all-people candlelight rally against the FTA took place in the plaza under the sponsorship of the Headquarters of the All-People Movement for Checking the Conclusion of the south Korea-U.S. FTA. Attending it were tens of thousands of people of different strata including workers from across south Korea and lawmakers from opposition parties.
