Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification on Sunday made public a statement calling for unity of the progressive forces.

Forty-one years have passed since Jon Thae Il burnt himself to death in protest against the U.S. colonial plunder and the exploitation by the dictatorial rule, it said, adding:

At that time his resistance spirit helped the workers unite with each other and enhanced the solidarity among the people from all walks of life.

Only the united struggle can break the chains of reaction.

The working class and all other progressive forces should unite in do-or-die spirit through practical actions for independence, democracy and reunification to form a grand alliance against the conservative.

Victory is in store as long as there is united might of the broad masses.
