Kimchi-making Season in Korea

Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- All households of Korea are now busy with preparing kimchi for winter.

Cabbages and radishes, principal materials of kimchi, are trucked to houses.

Kimchi making is one of the most important preparations for winter in Korea. So, it is considered a preparation of half-yearly food.

When making kimchi, Koreans help with each other among neighbors.

Included in winter kimchi are unsliced cabbage pickles, hot pickles of chopped radishes and pickled sliced radishes.

Cabbages and radishes, mixed with red pepper, Welsh onion, garlic, ginger, pear, chestnut, fish and pickled fish, are fermented by lactic bacteria. They are abundant in Vitamin C.

Kimchi, one of the Koreans' traditional dishes, is well known in the world.
