Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- The DPRK defeated Japan in a Group C match of the Asian regional third-stage preliminaries for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which took place at Kim Il Sung Stadium on Tuesday.

The stadium was crowded with spectators.

The two teams had a hot match as expected by football experts.

The DPRK team launched unilateral attacks in the first half of the match.

It missed a good opportunity to score a goal at around 23rd minute after the kick-off.

At around 4th minute in the second half the DPRK team opened the score by heading the ball into the net.

The match ended 1:0.

After the end of the match, Zaccheroni Alberto, senior coach of the Japanese team, told KCNA that the DPRK team is stronger than the Japanese team in spirit and courage.

Yun Jong Su, senior coach of the DPRK team, expressed satisfaction over the results of the match, saying his team could win the match with courage and confidence given by General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
