Pyongyang, November 16 (KCNA) -- The Chinese permanent representative to the United Nations called for protecting civilians from armed conflicts.

Speaking at a recent meeting of the UN Security Council, the Chinese official said the protection of civilians should be consistent to the purport and principles of the UN charter.

In this regard it is important to respect the national sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity and principle of non-interference in other's internal affairs and quit methods of option and double standards, the representative added.
