Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- A vocal recital of Son Tae Won, 71, took place at the Hamhung Grand Theatre in South Hamgyong Province some time ago. He won warm applause with such songs as "O, The Leader's Embrace," "We Long for You, General," "Attraction and Admiration" and "Yanji Bomb." He had worked at a factory until he began studying at Pyongyang Conservatory. After graduating from the conservatory, he started his career as a singer at the then State Song and Dance Troupe. One day in November Juche 57 (1968), leader Kim Jong Il heard his singing and appreciated him for his peculiar voice. He became a famous soloist and musical teacher. In 1998, the leader highly appreciated him again after hearing his singing "The 2 000-ri Amnok River." Under the leader's deep care, Son was honored with the title of People's Artiste. He is teaching at Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun Conservatory as a section chief of the Vocal Music Department. |
