Beijing, November 23 (KCNA) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao referred to the importance of the literary and art work, speaking at the Ninth National Congress of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Eighth National Congress of the China Writers' Association which were opened at the Great Hall of the People on Nov. 22.

The literary and art work is an important part of the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics and holds a very important position in party and state work, he said. He called upon the party committees and governments at all levels to regard it an important content of the building of the party ruling capacity to steadily improve and strengthen party guidance over the literary and art work and constantly enhance the capacity and level of the guidance over the work.

Hu called for sincerely studying and implementing the spirit of the 6th Plenary Session of the 17th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and maintaining the progressive orientation of the socialist advanced culture.
