Moscow, November 23 (KCNA) -- Russian President Dmitri Medvedev in a recent meeting referred to the importance of unity in settling the national issue.

Some forces are abusing the national issue to attain their aim, he said, adding this cannot help build a powerful state but will lead to a civil war.

The important obstacle to such negative phenomena is the idea of unity, he noted. The conception of the "Soviet people" was the mode of existence of the great people living in one country in the period of the Soviet Union, he declared.
