Beijing, November 24 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry in a press conference on Nov. 23 clarified the stand of his country opposing the West's moves against Iran.

The U.S. and other Western countries recently announced the new sanctions against Iran. In this regard he said that China has persistently opposed the unilateral sanctions against Iran and not approved of such expanded sanctions.

Pressure and sanctions cannot fundamentally settle Iran's issue and it is unfavorable to regional peace and stability to escalate confrontation, he stressed.

All parties concerned should strengthen dialogue and cooperation and reasonably deal with Iran's issue through negotiations, he noted.
