GNP's FTA Passage at NA Termed Act of Treachery--GFTUK Spokesman

Pyongyang, November 25 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK) issued the following statement on Friday: The clan of the "Grand National Party" recently cordoned off the venue of the "National Assembly" session and railroaded the "motion calling for ratification of the U.S.-South Korea Free Trade Agreement" despite the strong protest of the opposition parties and people of different social standings. This is an intolerable crime against the people and nation that leaves not only national dignity and interests but people's rights to existence to the mercy of foreign forces as it blatantly challenges the just protest of the workers and other south Koreans against the outside forces' domination and subjugation. The GFTUK Central Committee vehemently denounces the motion carriage in the name of all the workers in the DPRK with towering indignation at the GNP clan and other traitors responsible for it. The south Korean puppet authorities make lame excuses that south Korea will greatly benefit from the FTA while asserting that "it was an inevitable option for the sake of the national interests" to cover up their crimes against the nation. The "national interests" touted by the puppet group mean those of the U.S. and pro-U.S. privileged circles accounting for one percent of the population. The "option" also reflects treachery intended to realize its wild ambition for leading a wealthy and luxurious life and staying in power by kowtowing to the American masters. The puppet group, keen on pro-U.S. treachery, takes no account of the national dignity and interests and people's rights to existence. The south Korean chief executive and the GNP which rammed the humiliating FTA defying the protest of the entire nation are bound to meet the severe punishment by the history and nation, being cursed by the people as the "second Ri Wan Yong" and "Ulsa five traitors of the 21st century". As long as the present conservative ruling forces and the GNP are allowed to stay in power in south Korea, the workers and other south Koreans can never get rid of the fate of slaves of capital and servants of foreign forces. |
