Pyongyang, November 25 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, provided field guidance to the Stone Work Factory managed by Ri Myong Je.

He was accompanied by Kim Jong Un, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK, Ri Yong Ho, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army, Kim Kyong Hui, member of the Political Bureau and department director of the C.C., the WPK, Jang Song Thaek, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the WPK and vice-chairman of the NDC, Kim Kyong Ok, first vice department director of the C.C, the WPK, and KPA Generals Kim Won Hong, Pak Jae Gyong and Hyon Chol Hae.

After being briefed on the factory before a huge map showing its panoramic view, he went round different places of the factory to acquaint himself in detail with the construction, technical specifications of equipment and stone work there.

He watched with keen interest stone cutting equipment cutting natural stones to produce slates, boundary stones, etc. and CNC- based stone processing equipment successfully producing stone pillars and handrails requiring complicated technical processes. He was pleased with the good performance of stone processing equipment.

He also acquainted himself in detail with the technical specifications of the modern caterpillar excavating equipment being used by the factory for excavating natural stones.

He was very satisfied with the fact that the factory is located at a very good place, saying that it is favorable for producing stones and very convenient for transporting processed stones as there is an abundant deposit of natural stones around the factory furnished with latest stone processing equipment and a port is available near the factory.

Dropping in at the stone exhibition, he watched with satisfaction stone samples deposited in different parts of the country. He said the exhibition is a patriotic one as it is a miniature of the country rich in natural stone resources.

Natural stone resources and processed stones are very high in demand worldwide, he said, adding this factory shows that money can be earned by selling stones just as meat can be produced with grass.

He set forth tasks facing the factory.

Beautiful and quality natural stones are deposited in abundance in different parts of the country, he noted, underscoring the need to make a good use of them to bring benefits to the people.

He called for reinforcing all the stone mines and stone work factories of the country including this factory under a long-term plan and thus turn them into worldwide natural stone producers.
