Pyongyang, November 26 (KCNA) -- The Phibada Opera Troupe of the DPRK on a performance tour of China staged opera "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai" at the Hangzhou Grand Theatre in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province on Nov. 21 and 22.

Chinese say the legend about Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai originated from the place. The performance of the opera, therefore, evoked a lively response among audiences.

The standing member and head of the Publicity Department of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China said that the performance is the world's best as it is excellent, indeed, in all aspects including dramaturgy, music, stage decor, orchestral music.

He expressed belief that the performance would mark a good occasion in contributing to the development of the Sino-DPRK friendly relations.

The head of the Publicity Department of the Hangzhou City Committee of the CPC said that the new actor and actress who play leading roles are remarkable in their acting.

The vice-director of the Cultural Department of Zhejiang Province extended sincere thanks to General Secretary Kim Jong Il for sending the opera troupe.

The deputy general manager of the Hangzhou Grand Theatre said that the opera is another masterpiece as it deeply moved Chinese audiences, adding that it would contribute to further boosting cultural and art exchange between the two countries.

A citizen in Hangzhou City said the performance of the opera makes people strongly feel the traditional Sino-DPRK friendship, stressing that the friendship between the peoples of the two countries would last forever.
