|
|
Pyongyang, November 28 (KCNA) -- Kim Sat Gat (1807-1863) was a celebrated epigrammatist of Ri Dynasty (1392-1910). His original name was Kim Pyong Yon but he was called Kim Sat Gat as he always put on a conical bamboo rain-hat. Sat Gat means conical bamboo rain-hat. Kim, famous for his poetic talent in his childhood, had toured all areas of the country from the age of 21, ridiculing ignorance and stupidity of the feudal rulers and aristocrats and the foul features of society with his keen and nimble poetic language. His poems also reflect the miserable life of the working people and beautiful landscape of the country. His tour continued for nearly four decades. His satiric poems, which enjoyed great popularity among local people, are conspicuous in the Korean nation's history of medieval literature. Some of his poems are contained in "Kim Sat Gat's Poem Collection" and "Epigrammatist Kim Sat Gat". |
