Pyongyang, December 1 (KCNA) -- An event to observe World AIDS Day was held at the People's Palace of Culture in DPRK on Thursday.

Present there were DPRK officials of the ministries, national institutions, social organizations and public health organs and representatives and members of the international missions to the DPRK including WHO.

The speakers mentioned the importance of the prevention of AIDS as it poses serious threat to the world.

They underlined the need to prevent and control AIDS in close cooperation with the international organizations.

The participants appreciated a video-tape dealing with the contents based on the theme set by the WHO for this year.

Then they looked around photos and posters on prevention of AIDS.
