Pyongyang, December 1 (KCNA) -- Many fish farms have been built on a modern basis in the DPRK.

Fish farms have appeared in Rinsan and Singye counties, North Hwanghae Province, and Myonggan and Kilju counties, North Hamgyong Province, expanding the country's acreage of fish farming.

Ponds of the Sinchang Fish Farm are teeming with sturgeons. The farm succeeded in accustoming sturgeon to seawater.

The newly built research center of fish farming has an integrated system of research, breeding and processing of rare fish like salmon.

Fish breeding in streams has also proved successful for the first time in the country.

Meanwhile, researches have been intensified to introduce and breed new species of fish, develop nutritious feed and additives and raise fish in a scientific and intensive way.

The Kujang Fish Farm and Poman Fish Farm are well known in the country for making incubation of rainbow trout and carp in a scientific way and increasing the survival rate of their fries.
