Beijing, November 30 (KCNA) -- A member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the Communist Party of China (CPC), called for promoting the development of socialist culture with Chinese characteristics.

Speaking at a meeting held in Beijing recently, Li Changchun said that men of literature and arts should create culture in the great socialist practice, clearly mindful of their mission granted by the times and the people.

By promoting a signal development and prosperity of socialist culture, they should contribute to achieving the Chinese nation's great prosperity, he added.
