Pyongyang, December 2 (KCNA) -- The Nepali paper Jana Sata on Nov. 26 carried a special write-up under the title of "Defender of Socialism" with a photo of General Secretary Kim Jong Il on the 20th anniversary of his assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of his assumption of the supreme commandership of the KPA in the DPRK, the paper said, and went on:

The U.S. imperialists brought the nuclear crisis to the Korean Peninsula to stifle the DPRK and staged Team Spirit joint military exercises, a large-scale nuclear test war, in March 1993.

Kim Jong Il visited the military post of shrub pine trees on Jan. 1, 1995. This was like a solemn declaration of his will to defend socialism to the last under the uplifted banner of Songun.

He has energetically led the work to strengthen the politico-ideological and military-technical might of the KPA in every way and remarkably develop the defence industry.

The DPRK came to secure the reliable war deterrent under his leadership.
