Beijing, December 1 (KCNA) -- Xu Caihou, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of China, called for enhancing the role of military officials of literature and arts.

Speaking at a recent meeting with military officials participating in the Ninth National Congress of the China Federation of Literature and Art Circles and the Eighth National Congress of the Chinese Writers' Association, Xu said they should serve as the main force in widely disseminating the advanced military culture and scouts in developing socialist culture.

All Communist Party committees should strengthen guidance over the literary and art activities of the army, train able personnel and provide good conditions for developing literature and arts in the army, the vice-chairman added.
