Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- Pakistan called for putting an end to Israeli occupation of the Arab territories.

The statement came as Pakistani UN Ambassador Abdullah Hussain Haroon was addressing the General Assembly in a plenary meeting on the question of Palestine.

Haroon said it is imperative to address its root cause, i.e., the Israeli occupation of the Arab territories.

The Pakistani government actively supports the founding of an independent Palestinian state, he said, calling upon the international community to work on freezing all Israeli settlement activity and achieving comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
