Pyongyang, December 7 (KCNA) -- Uruguayan and Russian newspapers carried special write-ups to mark the 20th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's assumption of supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army and the 94th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese war hero.

The Uruguayan paper La Juventud on Nov. 29 edited an article "KPA Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il, defender of socialism" illustrated with his photo.

The paper praised feats performed by Kim Jong Il in putting the country's defence capability on the highest level and reliably defending socialism.

He ushered in a new era of building a thriving socialist nation, it said, stressing that the credit for signal achievements made in the DPRK goes to his plan and energetic guidance.

The Russian paper Serp I Molot carried in its 12th issue an article titled "The Democratic People's Republic of Korea".

The paper tells about the fact that Kim Jong Il has been wisely leading the struggle of the Korean people to open the gate to a thriving nation with his Songun politics.
