Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- An International preparatory committee was formed in Sankt-Peterburg of Russia on Dec. 5 to celebrate the birthday (February 16) of General Secretary Kim Jong Il in 2012.

Attending its inaugural meeting were personages of the International Alliance of Societies for the Study of the Juche Idea and Songun Policy in East European and Central Asian Regions, the Russian Association for the Study of the Juche Idea, the Sankt-Peterburg City Assembly and Juche idea study organizations.

Elena Bavichi, chairwoman of the Kim Jong Suk Women's Union of Russia, was elected chairperson of the international preparatory committee.

The committee decided to hold various political and cultural events, including symposium on Kim Jong Il's works, seminar on his exploits and lecture, on the occasion of his birthday.
