S. Korean Authorities' Moves to Put Media under Control Flayed
|
|
Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- Four ultra-right conservative newspapers of south Korea started the wired TV broadcasting services from Dec. 1, being granted preferential treatment. This is seen as part of the moves pushed forward by the authorities to let conservative media monopolize broadcasting field. Rodong Sinmun Monday says in a bylined commentary in this regard: The rash act on the part of the south Korean authorities is the product of their sinister attempt to strangle the progressive media and mislead the public opinion through the ultra-right conservative media and thus put down the people's protests and tide over the serious ruling crisis. Putting media under control to stamp out progressive media is a major means employed by the south Korean conservative group to stay in power as it regards the fascist dictatorship as the mode of its existence. The south Korean authorities' offer of wired TV broadcasting right to the most reactionary newspapers is a fascist media coup to put media under control. 70 percent of south Korea's media market is held by the field of broadcasting. Herein lies the reason why the present south Korean ruling forces have worked hard to put broadcasting under their control. The south Korean authorities allowed the ultra-right conservative media engrossed in distorting truth, spreading lies, making fabrications and breeding plots to lord it over by taking control of broadcasting. This is an unpardonable fascist arbitrary practice to trample down on justice, cover up the truth and stab at the people's mindset and conscience. This is self-evident truth that the south Korean people can not remain a passive onlooker to the conservative group's moves to make the media, which is obliged to speak for the people and defend justice and truth, a paid trumpeter serving it. |
